My client, one of Ireland's leading specialist food retailers and distributors, is currently seeking a Deputy Manager to join their busy Ballymount location.

Position Overview:

As Deputy Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the store, supporting the Store Manager in delivering exceptional customer service, maintaining high retail standards, and leading a motivated team.

You will be responsible for overseeing store operations, coaching and developing staff, ensuring product availability, maintaining excellent store presentation and creating a positive shopping experience for customers. You will also take full responsibility for the store in the absence of the Store Manager and act as a key point of contact for colleagues across the business.

This is a retail food environment, therefore previous retail food experience is essential. Candidates should have experience working within supermarkets, convenience stores, delis, specialist food retailers, forecourts or similar food retail settings and possess a strong understanding of food safety, stock management and customer service.

This is a full-time permanent position offering a salary of €35,000 per year. The role is based on a 40-hour week, working 5 days over 7, with flexibility required for both weekday and weekend shifts. Working hours will generally fall between 8:00am and 7:00pm.

This is a permanent role, which will involve working for my client directly on a permanent basis. This is not an agency or short-term role. I am assisting my client in finding suitable candidates to work for them directly.

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years' experience in a Retail Management, Assistant Manager, Deputy Manager, Deli Manager or Supervisory position
• Previous retail food experience is essential
• Experience working within supermarkets, convenience stores, delis, specialist food retailers, forecourts or similar food retail environments
• Strong leadership and people management skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Strong retail sales and commercial awareness
• Fluent spoken and written English
• Ability to work on your own initiative
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Passion for food and retail
• Flexibility to work weekdays and weekends

Responsibilities:

• Support the day-to-day operation of the store
• Take full responsibility for the store in the absence of the Store Manager
• Lead, coach and develop colleagues to achieve operational and customer service objectives
• Act as the main point of contact for staff queries when management is unavailable
• Drive high standards of customer service and store presentation
• Monitor stock availability, merchandising and replenishment activities
• Review store reports and identify opportunities for improvement
• Create a positive, engaging and productive working environment
• Ensure company policies and procedures are followed at all times
• Assist in achieving sales targets and operational goals
• Maintain the highest standards of food safety, hygiene and compliance
