Position Overview:
I am currently assisting my client, a well established civil engineering and utilities contractor delivering power and infrastructure projects across the West of Ireland, in the recruitment of a Site Engineer to join their team.
This is a permanent role, which will involve working for my client directly on a permanent basis, this is not an agency or short term role. I am assisting my client in finding suitable candidates to work for them directly.
The successful candidate will support the delivery of power related civils and utilities projects from a construction point of view. This role will involve site surveying, setting out, reporting, documentation, quality control, and health and safety coordination across live utility works.
Candidates must be willing to travel to site 5 days per week across Mayo, Roscommon, and surrounding areas as required. A valid Safe Pass and full clean driving licence are required.
Responsibilities:
• Carry out and oversee site surveying and setting out works.
• Support the delivery of power related civils and utility infrastructure projects.
• Provide regular updates to the Project Manager and Senior Site Agents.
• Assist with the control of plant, materials, and site resources.
• Ensure works are completed safely, accurately, and to a high quality standard.
• Complete site diaries, paperwork, progress updates, and project documentation.
• Attend site meetings and help resolve any site issues that arise.
• Support health and safety compliance across all site activities.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers where required.
• Support works involving civils, drainage, utilities, electricity infrastructure, trenching, ducting, reinstatement, and associated site activities.
Requirements:
• Minimum 5 years’ experience working on civils or utilities projects.
• Previous experience as a Site Engineer, Setting Out Engineer, or similar.
• Experience in power, electricity utilities, civils, drainage, or utility infrastructure projects is essential.
• Strong setting out and site surveying experience.
• Good understanding of site documentation, reporting, compliance, and quality control.
• Strong health and safety awareness.
• Relevant qualification in civil engineering, construction, or a related discipline is desirable.
• Full clean driving licence is essential.
• Valid Safe Pass is essential.
• Confident, motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Good communication, organisation, and time management skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
