Position Overview:
I am currently assisting my client, a leading engineering consultancy, in the recruitment of a Compliance BCAR Engineer / Inspector to join their Dublin office.
This is a permanent role, which will involve working for my client directly on a permanent basis, this is not an agency or short term role. I am assisting my client in finding suitable candidates to work for them directly.
The successful candidate will join the Compliance Team and work on a wide selection of projects where my client acts as Assigned Certifier. Projects include major city centre commercial office developments and residential projects across Ireland.
This role may suit an experienced engineer, building surveyor, inspector or construction professional with strong BCAR, Building Regulations and site inspection experience.
Responsibilities:
• Support the discharge of Assigned Certifier duties.
• Prepare and manage commencement and completion notices.
• Author, compile and track inspection plans throughout projects.
• Compile completion certificates and ancillary certificates.
• Gather and review product certification from contractors.
• Attend client, design and site meetings.
• Carry out site inspections and prepare documented reports.
• Track open compliance issues and ensure they are closed out.
• Use company cloud compliance systems and the BCMS.
• Liaise with clients, design teams, contractors, Building Control and project stakeholders.
• Report regularly to the named Assigned Certifier.
Requirements:
• Degree in a construction-related discipline is desirable.
• Background as an Architect, Building Surveyor, Civil Engineer, Structural Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Inspector or similar will be considered.
• Minimum 4 years’ relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of Building Control legislation and Building Regulations.
• Experience with BCAR, BCMS, inspection plans, completion documentation and compliance tracking.
• Qualification in Building Control or Building Regulations is desirable.
• Training in the role of Assigned Certifier is desirable.
• Strong reporting, documentation and communication skills.
• Ability to attend site inspections around the country as required.
