My client, a well-established, high-quality hotel, is currently seeking a strong, hands-on Sous Chef with proven leadership experience to join their team based in Co. Kildare.
Position Overview:
As the Sous Chef, you will play a key leadership role within the kitchen, supporting the Head Chef in the day-to-day operation while maintaining high standards of food quality, consistency, and team performance. This is a hands-on position suited to an experienced Sous Chef or a strong Senior Chef de Partie ready to step up who is confident leading service, managing teams, and upholding standards in a busy hotel kitchen.
This is a full-time position, working a 5-over-7 roster, Monday to Sunday (core schedule), offering a salary from €45,000 per year, depending on experience. The role is ideal for a Sous Chef with professional kitchen experience who is comfortable taking responsibility, supporting junior chefs, and stepping in for the Head Chef when required.
This is a permanent role, which will involve working for my client directly on a permanent basis, this is not an agency or short term role. I am assisting my client in finding suitable candidates to work for them directly.
Requirements:
• Min 4+ years Irish experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie ready to step up
• Background in a hotel or high-volume kitchen environment preferred
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Excellent knowledge of HACCP and food safety standards
• Ability to work well under pressure and lead by example
• Flexibility to work a 5-over-7 roster
Responsibilities:
• Supporting the Head Chef with daily kitchen operations
• Leading the kitchen team during service and in the Head Chef’s absence
• Ensuring consistent food quality, presentation, and portion control
• Training, mentoring, and developing junior chefs
• Maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness
• Assisting with stock control, ordering, and cost management
• Supporting menu execution and kitchen organisation
• Ensuring full compliance with HACCP and health & safety standards
