Estimator – Cork
My Client, one of Irelands leading construction contractors are currently recruiting for an Estimator to join their growing team on a permanent, full-time basis. This is a permanent role, which will involve working for my client directly on a permanent basis, this is not an agency or short term role. I am assisting my client in finding suitable candidates to work for them directly.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a Tier 1 contractor working on some of Ireland’s most high-profile construction projects. Based in Cork, the successful candidate will play a key role within a collaborative estimating team, contributing to the successful tendering and securing of major projects across a range of sectors.
The Role
Reporting to the Estimating Manager, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a variety of construction projects. You will work closely with internal teams and the supply chain to ensure all tenders are thoroughly assessed, commercially sound, and strategically positioned.
Responsibilities:
• Review and distribute tender documentation to the wider estimating team
• Issue subcontractor and supplier enquiries, including scope of works
• Manage and track tender returns, maintaining an up-to-date enquiry schedule
• Raise and manage tender queries in collaboration with the project team
• Identify gaps in tender information and develop clarifications and assumptions
• Prepare risk and opportunity assessments for each tender
• Develop value engineering options to enhance project competitiveness
• Analyse subcontractor and supplier pricing submissions
• Prepare detailed net costings, clearly identifying risks and opportunities
• Compile and complete full tender submissions, including commercial documentation
• Support tender settlement meetings and presentations
Requirements:
• Degree qualified in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or similar
• Minimum of 6+ years’ experience in an Estimating or Quantity Surveying role
• Strong analytical and numerical skills with excellent attention to detail
• Good knowledge of construction methods, materials, and current market rates
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, with experience in estimating software such as Conquest, Cubit, Buildsoft, or CostX desirable
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Proactive, career-driven, and motivated to progress
