Project Manager – Cork (Pharma / Life Sciences / Commercial Projects)

My Client, one of Irelands leading construction contractors are currently recruiting for a Project Manager to join their growing team on a permanent, full-time basis. This is a permanent role, which will involve working for my client directly on a permanent basis, this is not an agency or short term role. I am assisting my client in finding suitable candidates to work for them directly.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to join a leading main contractor delivering a diverse range of high-value projects across Cork, including pharmaceutical, life sciences, food & beverage, and commercial developments.

The Role

Reporting to the Contracts Manager, you will take full responsibility for the successful delivery of projects from initial stages through to completion. You will lead the project team, manage stakeholders, and ensure all works are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of safety and quality.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the project construction team to drive high performance
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and stakeholders
• Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards
• Promote a strong safety-first culture across all site activities
• Develop and manage the project programme, ensuring key milestones are achieved
• Implement short and medium-term planning to mitigate project risks
• Oversee quality management and ensure works meet all specifications and standards
• Take ownership of commercial performance in collaboration with the commercial team
• Manage procurement and subcontractor appointments in line with programme requirements
• Lead value engineering initiatives and drive efficient project delivery
• Maintain clear and effective communication across all project stakeholders
• Provide accurate reporting, forecasting, and updates to senior management
• Attend and lead client and consultant meetings, ensuring all actions are delivered

Requirements:

• Degree qualified in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline
• Minimum of 7+ years’ post-qualification experience in construction
• Proven track record delivering large-scale commercial or industrial projects
• Experience in sectors such as pharma, life sciences, or industrial projects is highly desirable
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation ability
• Strong knowledge of current building regulations and certification standards
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and reporting tools
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Self-motivated with the ability to take full ownership of project delivery
