My client, a leading facilities and food services provider, is currently seeking an experienced Catering Assistant/Commis Chef to join their team based in Cork City.

Position Overview:

As a Catering Assistant / Commis Chef, you will play an important role in supporting the kitchen team with the preparation and delivery of high-quality food service in a busy catering environment. You will assist with food preparation, basic cooking duties, and general kitchen support while ensuring that hygiene, food safety, and operational standards are maintained at all times.

This position operates on an early morning schedule from 4:00AM to 12:00PM (any 5 over 7, Mon to Sun), offering a consistent shift pattern and a pay rate of €14.15 per hour. It is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, can work on their own initiative, and is equally comfortable collaborating as part of a team to ensure the smooth running of daily kitchen operations.

This is a permanent role, which will involve working for my client directly on a permanent basis, this is not an agency or short term role. I am assisting my client in finding suitable candidates to work for them directly.

Requirements:

• Min 2+ years’ Irish Catering Assistant/Commis Chef experience in a high-volume catering or kitchen environment
• Valid Manual Handling certificate
• Valid Food Safety certification
• Strong understanding of hygiene and food safety standards
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong level of English including Written & Verbal
• Full right to work in Ireland
• Availability for a 5-over-7 roster

• Assist with food preparation and service
• Serve meals in a timely and professional manner
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in line with food safety regulations
• Support kitchen staff during busy service periods
• Ensure all work areas are kept clean, organised, and compliant
