I am currently assisting my client, a long-established Irish civil engineering and utilities contractor, with the recruitment of Quantity Surveyors and Senior Quantity Surveyors for its commercial team in Blanchardstown.

There are three permanent positions available:
• Quantity Surveyor
• Senior Quantity Surveyor – Growth & Development and Leakage Reduction Programmes
• Senior Quantity Surveyor – NEC Contracts

This is a permanent role with the contractor. This is not an agency or short term role; successful candidates will be employed by and work for them directly.

The positions will involve the commercial delivery of civil engineering, drainage, water and utility infrastructure projects. Responsibilities will include procurement, subcontractor management, valuations, variations, cost control, contractual administration, reporting, claims and final accounts.

The expected salary range is approximately €60,000–€80,000 for the Quantity Surveyor position and €80,000–€105,000 for the Senior Quantity Surveyor positions, depending on experience.

Responsibilities:

• Manage or support the commercial delivery of assigned civil engineering and utility projects.
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities and support value-engineering exercises.
• Prepare and manage material and subcontractor procurement schedules.
• Prepare project budgets, forecasts, cash-flow projections and cost-value reports.
• Procure subcontractors and manage subcontract packages from appointment through to final account.
• Review supplier and subcontractor requisitions, payment applications and contractual documentation.
• Prepare interim valuations and assess subcontractor payment entitlements.
• Measure, price and negotiate variations and changes to project scope.
• Manage contractual notifications, change control, claims and associated project records.
• Maintain risk registers, variation trackers and extension-of-time records.
• Prepare monthly commercial and project cost reports.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, operational teams and the accounts department.
• Negotiate and agree subcontractor, supplier and client final accounts.
• Senior candidates will also provide contractual guidance and support the development of junior surveyors.

Requirements:

• A recognised qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or an equivalent discipline.
• Quantity Surveyor candidates should have at least five years’ relevant experience.
• Senior Quantity Surveyor candidates should have at least 10 years’ experience within the construction or utilities sector.
• Civils, drainage or utilities experience, including water or electricity projects, is essential for the senior positions.
• Strong experience in procurement, valuations, variations, cost reporting, claims and final accounts.
• Knowledge of NEC contracts.
• Strong NEC contractual experience is required for the NEC-focused senior position.
• Strong commercial awareness and understanding of contract management.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Excellent written, verbal, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills.
• Full clean driving licence.
• Authorisation to work in Ireland.
