Job Details
I am currently assisting my client, a well established building and fit-out contractor operating across Ireland and Northern Ireland, in the recruitment of a Quantity Surveyor to join their team.
This is a permanent role, which will involve working for my client directly on a permanent basis, this is not an agency or short term role. I am assisting my client in finding suitable candidates to work for them directly.
The successful candidate will support the commercial delivery of a major refurbishment project in Salthill. The project involves the refurbishment and conversion of four existing buildings into modern student accommodation, with all four buildings being completed concurrently.
The project is due to commence on 2 November 2026. Further work is also planned in Galway, providing strong long-term prospects for the successful candidate.
The company is flexible regarding the exact level of experience and is prepared to shape the position around the right person.
Responsibilities:
• Support the commercial management of the project from procurement through to final account.
• Prepare subcontractor and supplier enquiries and assess returned quotations.
• Assist with the procurement and management of subcontract packages.
• Prepare valuations, payment applications and commercial reports.
• Measure works and assess variations and additional costs.
• Monitor project expenditure, forecasts and commercial performance.
• Maintain accurate cost and contract records.
• Liaise with the Contracts Manager, project team, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Attend project and commercial meetings when required.
• Assist with the preparation and agreement of final accounts.
Requirements:
• Quantity Surveying qualification or equivalent commercial construction experience.
• Previous experience with a building contractor, specialist contractor or construction consultancy.
• Good knowledge of measurement, procurement, valuations, variations and cost reporting.
• Contractor-side experience would be highly advantageous.
• Experience across refurbishment, fit-out, residential, apartment or student-accommodation projects would be beneficial.
• Strong Microsoft Excel, administration and communication skills.
• Full driving licence.
• Appropriate permission to work in Ireland.
If you meet the above requirements and are seeking an exciting new challenge, please forward your CV for immediate consideration and a confidential call back to discuss the role in more detail. Your CV will never be sent to anybody without your permission.
