I am currently assisting my client, a long-established Irish civil engineering and utilities contractor, with the recruitment of an experienced Commercial Manager for one of Ireland’s largest and most high-profile infrastructure projects.

This is a permanent role with the contractor. This is not an agency or short term role; the successful candidate will be employed by and work for them directly.

This is a senior strategic position requiring strong NEC4 Option C experience and regular on-site presence in the Dublin region. The successful candidate will lead the commercial management of a major infrastructure project, covering commercial strategy, cost planning, forecasting, contract administration, procurement, change control, claims and financial reporting.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the commercial management of a major infrastructure project operating under an NEC4 Option C contract.
• Oversee cost planning, forecasting, value engineering and project cash flow.
• Lead contract administration and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
• Provide commercial input into strategic decisions affecting project performance and risk.
• Support tender submissions, subcontractor procurement and pricing strategies.
• Manage subcontractor appointments, payments and final accounts.
• Manage early warnings, compensation events, change control, claims and dispute resolution.
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities and implement appropriate controls.
• Produce accurate and timely financial and commercial reports.
• Work collaboratively with project teams, clients, consultants and other stakeholders.
• Lead and support members of the project commercial team.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Commercial Manager on major infrastructure projects.
• Strong and demonstrable knowledge of NEC4 Option C contracts is essential.
• Extensive experience delivering utility or road infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of Design & Build contracts.
• Comprehensive experience in cost planning, procurement, forecasting, change control, claims and final accounts.
• Ability to be based in or travel to the Dublin region throughout the working week.
• Excellent negotiation, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline is preferred.
• Full clean driving licence.
• Authorisation to work in Ireland.
