Job Details
I am currently assisting my client, a well established building and fit-out contractor, in the recruitment of a Working Foreman to join their team.
This is a permanent role, which will involve working for my client directly on a permanent basis, this is not an agency or short term role. I am assisting my client in finding suitable candidates to work for them directly.
The position is based on a major refurbishment project in Salthill involving the conversion of four existing buildings into modern student accommodation. All four buildings will be completed concurrently, with the project due to commence on 2 November 2026.
This is a genuinely hands-on position rather than a supervisory-only role. The successful candidate will report directly to the Contracts Manager, remain actively involved in practical building work and supervise labour on site. There will be no Site Manager between the Foreman and Contracts Manager.
Responsibilities:
• Remain hands-on while coordinating daily site activities.
• Supervise direct labour and assist with the coordination of subcontractors and trades.
• Allocate daily work and ensure labour, materials and equipment are properly organised.
• Read and work from construction drawings and specifications.
• Monitor workmanship, quality and progress across the four buildings.
• Resolve practical site issues and report directly to the Contracts Manager.
• Maintain good housekeeping and safe working practices.
• Assist with snagging and ensure completed work meets the required standard.
Requirements:
• Previous experience as a Working Foreman, General Foreman or senior tradesperson with supervisory responsibility.
• Strong trade background, ideally in carpentry or another relevant building trade.
• Experience on refurbishment, fit-out, residential, apartment, hotel or similar building projects.
• Willingness to remain actively involved on the tools.
• Experience supervising labour and coordinating different trades.
• Ability to read drawings and solve practical construction issues.
• Valid Safe Pass and Manual Handling certification.
The main focus of the position will be practical site delivery rather than a heavy documentation workload. Further work is planned in Galway, making this a long-term permanent opportunity.
If you meet the above requirements and are seeking an exciting new challenge, please forward your CV for immediate consideration and a confidential call back to discuss the role in more detail. Your CV will never be sent to anybody without your permission.
