Position Overview:
My client, a well-established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy, is seeking an experienced PSDP/Safety Professional to join its Dublin team.
This is a permanent role with the client. This is not an agency or short-term role; the successful candidate will be employed by and work for them directly.
The position will involve working on a wide selection of construction projects throughout Ireland on which the consultancy acts as Project Supervisor Design Process. The role may also include working on projects where the company has been appointed as health and safety coordinator by the Project Supervisor Construction Stage.
The position will initially be based full-time in the Dublin office during a familiarisation period and will involve regular client meetings and site visits. Once the successful candidate has settled into the position, there may be an opportunity to work from home one or two days per week, depending on experience, the requirements of the role and individual progress.
Responsibilities:
• Ensure the proper discharge of the PSDP role on construction projects
• Coordinate design-stage health and safety matters
• Attend client, design-team and site meetings
• Prepare preliminary safety and health plans
• Compile and maintain safety files
• Prepare health and safety reports and associated documentation
• Carry out site visits and project inspections
• Coordinate with clients, designers, contractors and other stakeholders
• Review the competence and resourcing of relevant duty holders
• Undertake inspections and prepare reports relating to health and safety legal cases
• Work with contractors and PSCS teams to coordinate construction-stage safety requirements
• Promote a positive and proactive safety culture across assigned projects
Requirements:
• Degree in construction or a related discipline, such as architecture, building surveying, civil or structural engineering, or mechanical and electrical engineering
• At least four years’ relevant professional experience
• Practical knowledge of the PSDP role and Irish construction health and safety legislation
• Experience preparing safety and health plans, safety files and compliance reports
• Experience coordinating with clients, designers, contractors and other project stakeholders
• Construction safety and health training would be beneficial
• Chartered membership of Engineers Ireland, IOSH or another relevant professional body would be advantageous
• An occupational health and safety qualification or equivalent experience would be beneficial
• Strong communication, organisation and report-writing abilities
• Ability to manage several projects and priorities effectively
Benefits:
• Nine-day fortnight, providing every second Friday off once the required hours are worked across the fortnight
• Potential to work from home one or two days per week following the initial office-based familiarisation period
• Flexible working hours
• Pension scheme
• Death-in-service cover
• Paid professional memberships
• Minimum of five annual CPD training days
• Annual leave increasing with service
• Cycle to Work and TaxSaver schemes
• Employee assistance programme
• Active sports and social programme
• Opportunity to work across a varied portfolio of construction projects
If you meet the above requirements and are seeking an exciting new challenge, please forward your CV for immediate consideration and a confidential call back to discuss the role in more detail. Your CV will never be sent to anybody without your permission.
