My client, a well-established food manufacturing business, is now seeking an experienced Hygiene Manager to take ownership of hygiene and cleaning operations across their manufacturing facility in County Wicklow.

Position Overview:


As the Hygiene Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of hygiene, cleanliness and food safety are maintained across the manufacturing site.

This is a hands-on management role where you will lead and develop the site hygiene team, manage cleaning schedules and procedures, conduct regular hygiene inspections, oversee cleaning chemicals and equipment, and ensure all hygiene activities are completed in line with food safety, Health & Safety and company standards.

Working closely with the Quality, Production and Operations teams, you will play a key role in maintaining site standards, preparing for audits, implementing corrective actions and continuously improving hygiene practices across the facility.

You will also coordinate relevant external contractors and ensure accurate hygiene, cleaning and compliance records are maintained.

This is a full-time, permanent position based in County Wicklow, working Monday to Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00PM. The role is fully site-based and offers a salary of up to €59,000 per year, together with the opportunity to join a well-established food manufacturing business committed to maintaining high standards and continuous improvement.

This is a permanent role, which will involve working for my client directly on a permanent basis. This is not an agency or short-term role. I am assisting my client in finding a suitable candidate to join their team directly.

Requirements:


• Minimum 5+ years' experience within hygiene, cleaning or sanitation operations, ideally within food manufacturing
• Minimum 2+ years' management or supervisory experience
• Previous experience within a food manufacturing or food production environment is essential
• Strong knowledge of food manufacturing hygiene and cleaning standards
• Experience managing and developing hygiene/cleaning teams
• Experience developing and managing cleaning schedules, procedures and hygiene standards
• Strong understanding of food safety, HACCP and Health & Safety requirements
• Experience carrying out hygiene inspections and implementing corrective actions
• Experience supporting internal and external food safety audits
• Experience managing cleaning chemicals, equipment and consumables
• Strong understanding of safe chemical handling and COSHH requirements
• Experience coordinating external contractors and specialist cleaning services
• Excellent organisational and people-management skills
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work closely with Quality, Production and Operations teams
• Proactive and hands-on approach to maintaining and improving site standards

Responsibilities:


• Take overall responsibility for hygiene and cleaning standards across the manufacturing facility
• Lead, supervise, train and develop the site hygiene team
• Develop and manage daily, weekly and periodic cleaning schedules
• Ensure production and non-production areas are cleaned and maintained to required standards
• Carry out regular hygiene inspections and identify areas requiring corrective action
• Ensure cleaning procedures are completed effectively and documented accurately
• Work closely with Quality and Production teams to maintain food safety and hygiene standards
• Support internal, customer and external audits relating to hygiene and food safety
• Investigate hygiene-related issues and implement corrective and preventative actions
• Manage cleaning chemicals, equipment, PPE and hygiene consumables
• Ensure chemicals are stored, handled and used safely and correctly
• Coordinate specialist cleaning, pest control and other relevant external contractors
• Monitor hygiene team performance and ensure adequate staffing and training
• Maintain accurate cleaning records, hygiene documentation and compliance records
• Ensure compliance with food safety, Health & Safety, environmental and company standards
• Drive continuous improvement across site hygiene and cleaning operations
• Promote a strong hygiene and food safety culture across the facility
