Job Details
My client, an established organisation within the automotive and motoring services sector, is currently seeking an experienced Facilities Officer to join their Health & Safety team, ideally based in Dublin.
Position Overview:
As Facilities Officer, you will support the maintenance, safety and compliance of premises across Ireland, reporting directly to the Health & Safety Manager.
This is a hands-on position combining minor maintenance and repairs with workplace inspections, contractor monitoring and accurate compliance record-keeping. It would suit someone with a maintenance, facilities or trade background who also has practical experience supporting workplace health and safety.
This is a full-time, permanent position, working Monday to Friday, 9am–5.30pm, offering a competitive salary of up to €50,000 depending on experience, an annual performance bonus of up to 5% and a company van.
The successful candidate will ideally be Dublin-based and must be comfortable travelling nationwide. Travel will mainly take place during the working day. Occasional overnight stays and flexibility outside normal hours may be required.
This role will involve working for my client directly on a permanent basis. This is not an agency or short-term role. I am assisting my client in finding a suitable candidate to join their team directly.
Requirements:
• Minimum two years’ experience in a maintenance, handyperson, facilities or trade role
• Hands-on experience in minor carpentry, plumbing, decorating and general repairs
• Experience carrying out workplace inspections or risk assessments
• Working knowledge of Irish workplace health and safety legislation
• Understanding of fire safety arrangements, including escape routes, alarms, extinguishers and emergency lighting
• Ability to recognise when work requires a qualified or authorised tradesperson
• Current Safe Pass card and Manual Handling certificate
• Full, clean driving licence
• Competence in the safe use of hand and power tools
• Strong organisational skills and accurate record-keeping
• Confidence using email, spreadsheets and online reporting systems
• Ability to manage a varied workload independently and communicate effectively with colleagues and contractors
• Willingness to travel nationwide, with occasional overnight stays
Experience in automotive or workshop environments, contractor supervision or multi-site facilities would be advantageous. Relevant health and safety qualifications, first aid, fire warden or working-at-height training are desirable but not essential.
Responsibilities:
• Assemble, move, install and repair furniture, fixtures and fittings
• Carry out minor maintenance and repairs within your competence, escalating specialist or major works
• Support office moves, layout changes and cable management
• Respond to maintenance issues involving leaks, drains, lighting, waste and external areas
• Purchase materials within budget and maintain safe, tidy work areas
• Conduct health and safety inspections, record defects and report hazards
• Monitor risk assessments and support site compliance
• Check fire safety equipment and escape routes, and assist with fire drills
• Monitor contractor activities and track statutory equipment inspections and testing
• Check that first aid supplies and required safety arrangements are maintained
• Maintain compliance records, logs and certificates
• Track inspection and audit actions through to completion
• Report progress, risks and overdue actions to the Health & Safety Manager
Benefits:
• Competitive salary of up to €50,000 DOE
• Annual performance bonus potential of up to 5%
• Company van
• Full-time, permanent position with Monday-to-Friday hours
• Pension contributions
• Insurance discounts and complimentary motoring membership
• Mobile and health insurance discounts
• Subsidised gym membership
• Income protection and life cover
• Bike-to-Work scheme
• Employee Assistance Programme
• Sports & Social Club
