My client, a leading provider of food and hospitality services, is currently seeking an experienced Catering Assistant / Barista to support a busy catering operation in Galway on a temporary basis.

Position Overview:

As Catering Assistant / Barista, you will support the daily catering service, combining coffee preparation with food preparation, meal service and customer-facing duties. You will prepare barista-quality coffees, assist the kitchen and front-of-house team, and maintain high standards of customer service, cleanliness and food hygiene.

This is a temporary position based in Galway, working Monday to Friday, with shifts of 7:00 AM–3:00 PM or 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, offering a competitive hourly rate of €14.15 ph

Requirements:

• Previous Catering Assistant experience within a busy catering or hospitality environment
• Strong barista experience, including operating an espresso machine and steaming milk
• Ability to prepare a range of coffees to a consistent standard
• Previous till operation and cash handling experience
• Valid Manual Handling and HACCP certificates
• Good understanding of food hygiene and health and safety procedures
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Ability to work efficiently during busy service periods
• Reliable, punctual and comfortable working independently and as part of a team
• Availability for the stated Monday-to-Friday shifts
• Full right to work in Ireland

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and serve coffees and other hot beverages
• Operate and clean the espresso machine, grinder and associated equipment
• Assist with basic food preparation, including sandwiches, salads and meal accompaniments
• Portion and serve meals according to instructions
• Provide friendly and professional customer service
• Operate the till and handle payments accurately
• Replenish food displays, service counters and supplies
• Assist with stock rotation and the correct storage of deliveries
• Wash dishes, utensils and kitchen equipment
• Maintain clean and organised kitchen, coffee and service areas
• Empty bins and dispose of waste appropriately
• Follow HACCP, food hygiene, health and safety and site procedures
