I am currently assisting my client, a long-established civil and structural engineering consultancy, in the recruitment of a Structural Engineer for a remote-based role covering Galway and the surrounding region.

This is a permanent role, which will involve working for my client directly on a permanent basis, this is not an agency or short term role. I am assisting my client in finding suitable candidates to work for them directly.

Position Overview:

The successful candidate will work remotely while supporting projects across Galway and the surrounding region, including site visits where required.

This role would suit a Structural Engineer based in Galway or the West of Ireland who has consultancy design experience and wants a flexible role with a strong pipeline of local work.

The successful candidate will work on the design and delivery of structural engineering projects across residential, commercial, healthcare, industrial and infrastructure sectors.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation of structural engineering designs.
• Prepare structural drawings, calculations, specifications and technical documentation.
• Assist with planning, tender and construction documentation.
• Support project delivery across Galway and the surrounding region.
• Attend site visits and project meetings where required.
• Liaise with senior engineers, clients, architects, contractors and design teams.
• Review drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Assist with technical queries, design coordination and construction-stage support.
• Ensure work is completed in accordance with ISO 9001 procedures.
• Maintain accurate project records and documentation.
• Contribute to CPD and ongoing professional development.

Requirements:

• Degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 4+ years’ structural engineering design experience.
• Member of Engineers Ireland.
• Chartered Member of Engineers Ireland or working towards Chartership.
• Strong consultancy/design office experience.
• Experience across residential, commercial, healthcare, industrial or infrastructure projects would be beneficial.
• Good technical design ability and attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Proven commitment to CPD.
• AutoCAD experience required.
• Revit / structural design software experience would be beneficial.
• Civil 3D, Windes or Microdrainage experience would be an advantage but is not essential.
• Must be based in, or able to service, Galway and the surrounding region.
