I am currently assisting my client, a well-established civil engineering and utilities contractor, in the recruitment of a Design Engineer / Design Coordinator to join their team.

This is a permanent role, which will involve working for my client directly on a permanent basis, this is not an agency or short term role. I am assisting my client in finding suitable candidates to work for them directly.

Position Overview:

The successful candidate will support the design process from tender stage through to construction on NTA roads and utilities projects.

This role will involve coordinating design inputs, managing consultant deliverables, engaging with clients, and supporting internal project teams across all phases of project delivery.

The role would suit a Design Engineer, Civil Engineer or Design Coordinator with experience in roads, utilities, civil infrastructure, NTA projects or similar.

Responsibilities:

• Review RFP and tender documentation and coordinate pricing input from consultants and subcontractors.
• Support the development of design proposals, programmes and methodologies for tender submissions.
• Organise and manage site surveys and design deliverables during project mobilisation.
• Liaise with internal project teams, designers, consultants and subcontractors to ensure timely progress.
• Provide constructability input and support the transition from design stage to construction.
• Support planning, permitting and CPO processes where required.
• Manage design change orders, progress updates and design-related project documentation.
• Coordinate and track consultant deliverables against project requirements and timelines.
• Present developed designs at key project milestones.
• Finalise design documentation for construction.
• Provide ongoing design coordination and technical support during the construction phase.
• Work closely with site teams to resolve design queries and support project delivery.

Requirements:

• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 2+ years’ experience in a design coordination, design engineering or civil engineering role.
• Irish experience is required.
• Experience with roads, utilities, civil infrastructure or NTA projects would be highly desirable.
• Familiarity with water, wastewater, power, roads or utility infrastructure projects would be an advantage.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to coordinate consultants, subcontractors, internal teams and client requirements.
• Good understanding of design deliverables, tender submissions and construction-stage design support.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Experience using AutoCAD, Civil 3D or GIS would be beneficial.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Valid Irish work permission / visa.
